Why do we exist?

Stephen Hawking is searching for an answer to this question and I have one fairly reasonable answer for him but before coming to that answer let me build up the reasoning behind it. Please tell me about any flaws in the logic as this question is pertinent to us all and we have to find the answer together. The following text may prove to have a very uninteresting texture owing to my shortcomings as a writer, but if you follow the reasoning, you will like what I have proposed…

  1. The Big Bang Theory has been proved to be the reason behind all that there is right now, in the state that it is. According to this theory, everything that is a part of this Universe, all the matter and all the energy, was once upon a time, compressed inside a fantastically dense ball of matter which at some point of time, approximately 14 billion years ago exploded and resulted in the current state of The Universe by gradual evolution. We do not know yet, what was the state of The Universe before The Big Bang and the moment of the explosion is in scientific explanations, considered to be the initiation of time, the moment of creation. And so it was. We do not yet have the means to find out what existed before The Big Bang and the problem inherently has no logical way out. This point is crucial and will be referred to in the end.
  2. Let us assume that we know the reason why we exist at our own individual levels. Suppose you know the reason why you live and your purpose on Earth. Now think: Would this not lead to the complete extermination of your will to live? What would you do? Try and change things? Knowing your purpose in life essentially is having your destiny to be set and predetermined and you knowing it. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO LIVE NOW? Even if you knew that you were to become the richest man on Earth, the controller of all human beings, would you still want to live if your own life is not in your hands? It is because of this reason (that we would no longer feel the need to live) that we are not supposed to know why we live.*
  3. If you consider yourself something different from the next human being, you are both right and wrong. It only depends on the perspective you take. Looking at yourself in the mirror, comparing your abilities and choices with others, you might feel different. But now consider this: We are all living, have the same basic needs of food, water, air, shelter to survive. These basic needs makes us similar to all the life present in this Universe. Besides that, think how similar all the different ants and sparrows look to us humans. But to each other they are different. In the same way, isn’t it obvious that we humans, all look the same to the ants and the sparrows who might just acknowledge our presence as nothing more than a threat just as we acknowledge their presence as nothing more than something that is there in our environment. So, to the Earth, which represents the collective of all living things around us, we are no different than the Dinosaurs that once dominated its surface. This is one bigger perspective than the previous. Now think about this: We humans, ants, sparrows, trees, rocks, rivers etc. and for that matter, PLASTIC AND OTHER ‘MAN – MADE’ materials, are all a part of the Earth, which in turn is a part of The Universe. So ultimately, we human beings who are just genetically different from the Dinosaurs are basically living things created by The Universe, with just one extra attribute - OUR BRAIN that allows us to think and exercise free will.
  4. What happens after we die? We don’t know. But in the event that we know ‘Why we exist?’ *death becomes a goal because as soon as our task is finished, we should not (due to extra burden on the Earth’s resources which can be utilized by everyone to fulfill his/her destiny) and maybe could not live. And even otherwise, without the will to live (which will happen if you know why you are living) life is nothing more than death. We can NO LONGER FIND OUT WHY WE LIVE, so there is no need to live, we don’t fear dying, as death presents a better adventure. So basically if we know why we exist, LIFE LOSES ITS VALUE. We don’t know what happens after death, but here is an opinion. We all know that we are made up of molecules and matter that are a part of The Universe. That is solid fact. What I believe is that our consciousness is something separate from this material. And when we die, (for sure) our body mixes itself back with The Universe while our consciousness (maybe) merges with the consciousness of The Universe. It is hard to imagine The Universe as conscious but think about this, if all living things are a part of The Universe and are conscious, is not the Universe conscious as well? And furthermore, our body with its advanced brain is just a result of evolution, which is a natural (allowed by The Universe) process. So basically, our advanced brain and body are just instruments for the collective consciousness of The Universe for itself, to be able to act because pure consciousness can’t act on its own. It needs a material medium to be able to work through. So if The Universe wants to change itself, it acts through materials, collisions, chemical reactions etc. And if The Universe wants to know why it exists, it creates us humans to think for itself as to ‘why we humans and The Universe exist?’

But as proved earlier, no living entity, we humans and The Universe included, can know the reason behind their existence because that will prove their existence to be futile. Here we come back to the first point.

Why is it logically and physically impossible to decipher anything about the state of The Universe before The Big Bang? Here is the answer from my philosophy. It is because the sole purpose of existence of "The-State-of-The-Universe-Before-The-Big-Bang" was to CREATE THE PRESENT UNIVERSE. As soon as it did its job, it realized its destiny and it ceased to exist. It completely annihilated its existence from THIS UNIVERSE. It could have existed for billions of years before the explosion or just for a few moments, we can’t know. And so shall happen with us, in fact, it happens with us all the time. Most of us find out the real purpose of our life just before it gets over. Most of us find out that they had no major purpose except to reproduce and die. This made me argue that if we take the perspective of the collective consciousness of The Universe, we will find out about why we exist in the end. But I thought wrong, because there are people who stumble upon their purpose early in life but their purpose is so HUGE that it takes them a whole lifetime to realize it. Like Blessed Teresa. Like Mahatma Gandhi. Like Steve Jobs, Mukesh Ambani, Rattan Tata. These are the people who give meaning to the question ‘why we exist?’ and The Universe expects something similar from all of us.

And here comes the need for the value for life. One might argue that if the end/death was all that important, life would not have any meaning. We do not know the answer yet and that is why we exist. We have to use our brains, our technology and our consciousness to find out more about all that exists right now. We have to find out more about this Universe and make it realize itself through ourselves; only then can we answer this puzzling question. That is ironically our destiny and we have to realize it and until we do it, find all the answers that puzzle us, we still will have the zest for living.

So why do we exist?

We exist to find out a purpose that we love and so humungous in magnitude that it takes more than one lifetime to completely finish it. We exist to answer this question and to keep answering it.

The first Idea ever (here)...

There are just three rules in The Ideatory:

1. Logical Reasoning is the law.
2. Respect relativity.
